While on sabbatical leave from Ryerson University, I assisted in the establishment of a private university in Abu Dhabi UAE. This university is ALHOSN University (www.alhosnu.ae). In particular,
Supervised the curriculum development in three engineering disciplines, which are software engineering, urban planning and industrial engineering, one business administration degree, one management information system degree and lately the MBA program. All programmes were awarded full accreditation.
Involved in the accreditation process with UAE ministry of higher education
Developed university bylaws and developed the university catalogue, student handbook, faculty handbook and human resources bylaws
Monitored the construction of the university infrastructure by interacting with engineers, construction firm and architects
Designed and purchased the computing facilities at University level
Assumed the role of Acting President and Vice President for academic affairs and did run day to day the university affairs
Managed to secure the enrolment of 190 students in the first academic year and then 280 students in the second academic year.

Introduced engineering applications to science courses (e.g. Physics and Engineering applications, Math and Engineering Applications). These courses were co-taught by science and engineering faculty members.

Ensured revision of freshman courses according to the ABET requirement.
Involved in developing hands on courses for the College of Engineering
As a member of the task force, in charge of introducing hands-on methodology contributed in the selection of engineering problems, scientific solution techniques and equipment design.
Developed complete methodology for a fluid mechanics course that involved automated data acquisition, video graphics, etc…
Established a state of the art laboratory facility dedicated to the fluid mechanics course.

Site visits to different oil companies such as TOTAL, ADCO, ADNOC, ADMA-OPCO, Schlumberger and to different consulting firms such as TECHNIP, KHANSAHEB where students are stationed as training engineers.
Member of the examining committee for 20 students returning from practical training experience.
Director of engineering computer laboratory. Duties included:
Ensured availability of computer facility for all engineering students.
In charge of computer and software purchases.
Decided on computer maintenance, homepage creation and other internet duties.

Acted as Canadian Space Agency prime interface between the Space Agency and the international partner of the Space Station (U.S.A, European community and Japan).
Coordinated the review and selection of Canadian experiments for launch opportunities.
Project manager for ten contracts awarded by the Canadian Space Agency to industry and Universities ($1.5 Million).
Acted as Canadian Space Agency prime interface with the international partner for any joint science mission (U.S.A, European Community and Japan)
Canadian leader of the Multi-lateral Science working group committee which involve the European Space Agency (ESA), the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), the Japanese Space Agency (NASDA) and the American Space Agency (NASA).
